Baume and Mercier Watches
The history of luxury brand Baume and Mercier began during the early 1830’s when the members of the Baume family have been known for making beautiful pocket watched made of enamel in the village of Les Bois, Switzerland. The family established the Societe Baume Feres and over the years has taken priority on making pocket watches. A brave step was made in 1847 by Joseph Celestin Baume together with brother Louis Victor Baume, when they went to London, England to officially set up business there.
At the heart of a century marked by extraordinary scientific and industrial progress, brothers Louis Victor and Pierre-Joseph-Célestin Baume founded the house of the same name and registered it as an agency in the Les Bois village, in the Swiss Jura Mountains. There was only one slogan: "Accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality". They established Baume Brothers in 1851 and it was the beginning of the production of the now world famous watches. The brothers, having been exposed to the art of watch making, continued to live up to the family legacy with their dedication to make timepieces that boast of precise mechanisms and elegant and sophisticated designs.
The succeeding generations of the Baume family took over the business and continued what the two founding brothers established. Successors of the company optimized production and improved the client base. The rise the business continued to gain international fame and acknowledgment. However, it was only in 1912 when the name Baume rose further to further heights in Swiss watch making fame. William Baume met with Paul Mercier, a famous jeweler in Geneva. The two decided to open the establishment Baume et Mercier in Geneva. And from then on, the rest is history.
Baume and Mercier conquered the global luxury watch market by manufacturing watches with precious stones, timepieces worn on a golden chain and bands encrusted with diamonds and other crystals. Currently endorsed by Teri Hatcher and Ashton Kutcher as brand ambassadors, Baume and Mercier can be seen on A-list celebrities the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Meg Ryan, Kiefer Sutherland, and many more. The five major designs, Ilea, Hampton, Riviera, Classima, and Diamant are the timepieces of choice of the stylish, those who value classic, tradition, and timeless beauty.
Aside from making exquisite watches, Baume and Mercier is also famous for being patrons and supporters of charities that promote the fight against cancer, child education, and help for underprivileged women. With the brand’s glorious history and notable charities, indeed, wearing Baume & Mercier means wearing history, class, and philosophy.
